How to Recruit the Best Agents

Looking for ways to turn things around this year?  Start with building a great team of agents.  How would you like to have a team of agents that knows how to prospect, get listing agreements sign, as well as get the deal closed?  Yes, they do exist!  And you can recruit them to be on your team.

To start, we all hear the that to maximize your recruiting results, you must have a plan.  However, no one really gives you a plan.  Or at least one you can hit the ground running with.

Our research team set out to find what the pros are successfully doing for their recruiting efforts; and to create a workable plan outline that's easy, effective and can work for you.  Here's what the pros say you should do:

1.  How Many Agents:  Decide how many agents you want working at your brokerage by the end of the year.  Divide that number of agent you want by 12; this is how many agents you'll need to hire monthly.

2.  Interview Consistently:  Interview bi-weekly and be sure the agent is a good fit with your brokerage.  Hire once a month and have all new hires start on the same day with training.

3.  Start with Training:  Start all new agents with one full week of training, then bi-weekly thereafter for at least two months.  Evaluate each agent for sales ability, client service, creativeness and working effectively.

4.  Recruit Online:  Make it easy for persons to communicate with you about joining your brokerage.  Experienced agents understand that time is valuable and would like to get things done efficiently.  Allowing agents to complete their initial information online, gets you more potential recruits.

5.  Your Message:  It is important to have a message that states your benefits.  Agents want to know first that you will help them; then they want to know how you will help them.  Develop a message that can be used in your advertising, sponsored event, seminars or other marketing media.  Define your point of distinction in ways that actually mean something to the agents you want to hire.

Be clear on why the agent should work for you and not the other brokerage.  While Realty Broker Office can help you Recruit and Keep Agents, also prepare a list of benefits and discuss your plans for marketing, internet, and technology.
