  Email Subject - What Does and Does Not Work 

Which emails do you automatically open?  Does the subject line prompt a faster action? With most people receiving many emails during the day, quicker decisions are being made about what to click and read, delete and leave for later.

The results are in, and the question most asked by people new to email marketing is, "How should I write my subject line so that more recipients will open my emails?".

In addition to our own study, we researched other leading internet marketers that analyzed over 40 million emails.  The goal was to find emails with he highest open rates and the ones with the lowest open rates.

The highest open rates were in the 60% - 83% range, and the lowest open rates were in the 1% - 11% range.  The results reveal an interesting pattern; do you see it below?

With the "Best Open Rates", notice the subject lines are pretty straightforward.  They are not "salesy" or "pushy".  Research shows that most people get so much junk mail in their inbox, that anything hinting of spam gets thrown away immediately; hence the "Worst Open Rates" where the subject lines reads like advertisements headlines.

People are always looking for answers and solutions to problems; especially from a trusted source, or someone they have identified as providing them with reliable information.  Keep your subject simple and to the point.   

Remember... With everyone of your email campaigns, be sure to track prospects and conversions.  After all, you are also looking to get clients and grow your business.
